  • DHL Global Forwarding and Kinderherzen Launch Pro Bono Partnership to Transport Mobile Heart Clinic

Bonn, Germany — DHL Global Forwarding said Monday it took a significant step in humanitarian logistics by partnering with the German NGO kinderherzen to deliver the world’s first mobile heart clinic for infants. This pro bono initiative, managed by DHL’s Global Humanitarian Logistics Center in Dubai, marks a milestone in global healthcare efforts.

The collaboration’s first accomplishment is the successful transportation of the mobile clinic to El Salvador. Here, a dedicated team of international heart surgeons and medical professionals has been providing free life-saving surgeries and therapies to infants suffering from congenital heart diseases (CHD).

Dr. Andreas E. Urban, Chairman of the Board and Founder of the NGO kinderherzen, pediatric cardiac surgeon, said:

“Our mission is to ensure that infants affected by congenital heart diseases (CHD) have access to life-saving surgeries and therapies, regardless of their place of birth. Partnering with DHL, one of the leading global logistics providers, will greatly assist us in fulfilling this mission.”

Kinderherzen’s mobile field hospital is a remarkable project aimed at offering critical medical services to the youngest patients in need. The hospital is not stationary; it is designed to be moved to various countries, extending its reach and impact. Following its mission in El Salvador, the mobile clinic’s next destination is Burundi in East Africa. This move exemplifies the ongoing commitment of both kinderherzen and DHL Global Forwarding to address urgent medical needs across the globe.

The partnership between DHL Global Forwarding and kinderherzen is a shining example of how logistics and healthcare sectors can collaborate effectively for a humanitarian cause. The initiative foresees the mobile field hospital being moved to different countries, indicating a long-term commitment to improving infant healthcare worldwide. The transport of the mobile heart clinic not only underscores DHL’s expertise in logistics but also reflects its dedication to supporting critical humanitarian efforts globally.
