8. Embedded content from other websites

Suggested text: Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

9. How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

10. What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. 11. Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

12. Google AdSense

Google Adsense displays advertisements from various advertising partners (ad servers) on your website by integrating just one AdSense script. A complex bidding system decides which advertising partner receives the advertising slot, which will be displayed to you, in the end.

Only advertising partners to whom your website visits have consented can participate in the auction. For advertising partners who require consent in accordance with the TCF standard, the respective TCF vendors must be configured.

We automatically import these lists of TCF vendor configurations.

WordPress is the content management system for this website and offers the possibility to write comments under blog posts and similar content or to log in to the system. Cookies or cookie-like technologies can be stored and read. These can contain personal data like the name, email address and website of a commentator to display it again. The personal data can be used to display your information again if you want to write another comment on this website.

If you are a subscriber a session-hash, to identify your subscription during your seating, login status, user ID and user-related settings will be stored for the WordPress backend. This data can be used so that the browser can recognize you as a signed-in user.

14. In-Line Story Content from YouTube and/or X

In some cases, we embed Content from YouTube and/or X into our news snaps:

15. YouTube

YouTube enables the embedding of content published on youtube.com into websites to enhance the website with videos. This requires processing the user’s IP-address and metadata. Cookies or cookie-like technologies can be stored and read. These can contain personal data and technical data like user IDs, consent, settings of the video player, connected devices, interactions with the service, push notifications and used account. This data can be used to collect visited websites, detailed statistics about user behavior, and it can be used to improve the services of Google. It can also be used for profiling, e.g. to provide you with personalized services, such as ads based on your interests or recommendations. This data may be linked by Google to the data of users logged in on the websites of Google (e.g. youtube.com and google.com). Google provides personal information to their affiliates and other trusted businesses or persons to process it for them, based on Google’s instructions and in compliance with Google’s privacy policy.

16. X (formerly Twitter)

X enables the embedding of content like tweets or timelines, and other interaction possibilities like share buttons from X.com directly into websites. This requires processing the user’s IP-address and metadata. Cookies or cookie-like technologies can be stored and read. These can contain personal data and technical data like user IDs (as well for not X users), interest groups, consent, security tokens, from which website you came, interactions with the service and used account. This data can be used to collect visited websites, detailed statistics about user behavior, and it can be used to improve the services of X. This data can be linked to the data of users registered on X.com. Advertisers may learn information from your engagement with their ads on or off X. For example, if you click on an external link or ad on a service of X, that advertiser or website operator might figure out that you came from X, along with other information associated with the ad you clicked, such as characteristics of the audience it was intended to reach and other X-generated identifiers for that ad. X provides personal information to their affiliates, service providers and advertisers.
