Zug, Switzerland — Holcim Wednesday put up Catrin Hinkel, CEO of Microsoft Switzerland, as a new independent member of its Board of Directors, alongside nominee Michael H. McGarry. Incumbent Jan Jenisch is also proposed for re-election as Chairman of the Boar.
Hinkel’s diverse background, combined with McGarry’s nomination, represents Holcim’s drive towards a forward-thinking, diverse board well-equipped to navigate the challenges of the modern business world.
Hinkel, who will be standing for election alongside Michael H. McGarry at Holcim’s Annual General Meeting on May 8, 2024, brings over 25 years of experience in the technology industry. Her nomination is part of Holcim’s strategic effort to diversify its board with a range of backgrounds, skills, and experiences, the company said.
Hinkel’s appointment marks a notable step in Holcim’s commitment to incorporating technology and innovation at the core of its governance. She has held various leadership roles in major organizations, including Accenture, where she was Senior Managing Director, Europe Cloud First Strategy & Consulting Lead. Her expertise extends to digital transformation, an area critical for modern businesses.
Additionally, Hinkel’s involvement in various executive committees and boards, such as Digital Switzerland, the ASUT Industry Association Board, and the Supervisory Board of the CISPA Helmholtz Center for Information Security, showcases her broad understanding of the tech landscape. She has been recognized for her contributions to digital innovation, featuring in BILANZ’s list of Switzerland’s Digital Shapers 2022 and Forbes DACH’s list of C-suite Women in Tech.
The move also aligns with Holcim’s adherence to the Swiss Code of Best Practice for Corporate Governance and the DJSI criteria, promoting independent and diverse board compositions. Once elected, the Board will comprise 11 members, with 10 being independent.
