July 08 2024 06:07:19 UTC– Ocado Group plc and AEON have announced plans to expand their partnership with the construction of a third Customer Fulfilment Centre (CFC) in Kuki-Miyashiro, Saitama prefecture, Japan.

The new facility, scheduled to open in 2027, aligns with the ongoing development of AEON NEXT’s online grocery operations, utilizing the Ocado Smart Platform (“OSP”).

Ocado first partnered with AEON in 2019 to enhance the online presence of AEON NEXT grocery business. The announcement of the new CFC coincided with the first anniversary of AEON NEXT’s online grocery delivery brand launch.

The initial CFC in Honda-cho, Midori-ku, Chiba-city, which began operations in July 2023, currently serves customers in the Kanto region. A second facility in Hachioji is expected to commence operations in 2026. These centres offer the broadest range of products in the Japanese grocery market, benefiting from Ocado’s cutting-edge technology that ensures world-class levels of freshness and convenience.

This strategic expansion demonstrates Ocado and AEON’s commitment to revolutionizing the online grocery market in Japan by providing efficient, high-quality service to a growing customer base.
