  • FanDuel launches ‘Play Well’ partnership with Randy Livingston and Anita Ondine Smith during Responsible Gambling Education Month to help adults discuss gambling risks with youth.

September 04 2024 14:05:21 UTC–FanDuel, the leading US online sports betting platform under Flutter’s umbrella, has announced a significant initiative aimed at promoting responsible gambling.

The company has partnered with former NBA player and coach Randy Livingston, along with his wife, sports agent Anita Ondine Smith, to launch “Trusted Voices: Conversations About Betting.”

Livingston Shares Personal Story of Gambling Struggles in New FanDuel Series

This initiative introduces a new resource hub designed to support parents, guardians, and coaches in discussing gambling with young people. The program provides tools to help these trusted adults recognize gambling risks, identify warning signs, and guide those in need toward appropriate support services.

The centerpiece of this initiative is a video series where Livingston and Ondine Smith share Livingston’s journey from being a five-star basketball phenom to battling problem gambling during his NBA career. They candidly discuss his first encounters with gambling, his lowest points, and his path to recovery, aided by his wife’s support.

‘Trusted Voices’ Empowers Adults to Discuss Gambling Risks with Youth

The “Trusted Voices” content emphasizes responsible gambling behavior for adults, particularly the importance of keeping under-21 individuals away from sports betting platforms. It also educates viewers on proxy betting and the critical role adults play in setting a responsible example. This content was developed in collaboration with EPIC Global Solutions, a leader in gambling harm prevention.

FanDuel’s move coincides with Responsible Gambling Education Month, highlighting the company’s commitment to fostering safe and informed betting practices across all demographics.

FanDuel Expands Mental Health Support with Nationwide Access Through Kindbridge

In addition to “Trusted Voices,” FanDuel is expanding its partnership with Kindbridge Behavioral Health to enhance support for individuals who self-exclude from the FanDuel platform. The expanded program, which was successfully piloted in New Jersey and Ohio, now offers nationwide access to mental health assessments and group support services via telehealth for those dealing with problem gambling.

Kindbridge, a pioneering mental health provider, specializes in helping individuals affected by gambling-related issues, ensuring immediate access to expert care and treatment.
