VIENNA, Austria — Austrian Post expects to start selling exclusive electricity and gas tariffs from Verbund this autumn in about 330 company-operated branches, the postal operator said.
Further details of the offer will be published before the market launch, Austrian Post said in an emailed press release today.
The tariffs are not on sale yet. Austrian Post and Verbund, both holdings of Österreichische Beteiligungs AG, or ÖBAG, said they are starting a long-term collaboration. The emailed release did not disclose prices, contract terms or expected customer numbers.
Branches and Timing
At launch, the energy offers will be available in about 330 company-operated Post branches and on digital sales channels, Austrian Post said. A rollout to more than 1,350 Post partners is planned for the beginning of 2027. Those figures are not the same as the company’s network of about 1,700 branches and Post partners.
Electricity and Gas
Austrian Post said the electricity would come from Verbund’s certified hydropower plants. Verbund said it operates more than 130 hydropower plants in Austria and Bavaria. The gas tariffs are a separate product from that hydropower supply.
Chief Executive Walter Oblin said Austrian Post would offer electricity and gas tariffs together with Verbund, after adding bank99 and its YELLLOW mobile offering in recent years. Verbund Chief Executive Michael Strugl said the companies would bring access to electricity and gas products into Post branches.
