• Major order for 500 electric buses: Daimler Buses signs new framework agreement
MECHELEN, Belgium – Daimler Buses has signed a framework agreement in mid-December to supply 500 electric buses to the Flemish public transport company De Lijn.
The agreement includes an initial firm order for 80 Mercedes-Benz eCitaro buses, with the first deliveries scheduled for early 2027.

Daimler Buses and the Flemish public transport operator De Lijn signed a framework agreement in mid-December 2025 for the delivery of 500 electric buses. As part of the agreement, De Lijn placed a firm order for 80 Mercedes-Benz eCitaro units. The delivery of the first eCitaro is scheduled to begin in early 2027.
The agreement supports De Lijn’s strategy to operate a bus fleet with zero local emissions by 2035 at the latest. The public transport company has exclusively procured electric buses since 2022.
