• Taiwan’s STARLUX Airlines Receives First Airbus A350-1000 in Toulouse
TOULOUSE, France – STARLUX Airlines of Taiwan has taken delivery of its first Airbus A350-1000 widebody jet on January 6, becoming the 11th global operator of the aircraft.
The plane is the first of 18 ordered by the carrier and will serve as its new flagship on premier long-haul routes.
What is new?
On January 6, 2026, Airbus delivered the first A350-1000 to STARLUX Airlines at a ceremony in Toulouse. This aircraft is the largest version of the A350 family and joins a fleet of 10 smaller A350-900s already in service with the Taiwanese airline.
The delivery marks a significant expansion of the carrier’s long-haul capabilities.
Fleet Expansion and Strategy
The new A350-1000 will be deployed on STARLUX’s premier long-haul services connecting its Taipei hub to destinations in Europe and North America, as well as select locations within the Asia-Pacific region. The aircraft’s arrival strengthens the airline’s all-Airbus fleet, which currently comprises the A321neo, A330-900, and A350-900 models. In addition to its passenger fleet, STARLUX has also ordered 10 A350F freighter aircraft to develop its future cargo network.
Aircraft Details
To mark the occasion, STARLUX unveiled a new livery for the aircraft. The design features a carbon-fibre motif, reflecting the composite materials used in the A350’s construction, and a prominent ‘1000’ on the fuselage to identify it as the airline’s new flagship. The A350 design incorporates new-generation engines and lightweight materials, contributing to a 25 percent reduction in fuel burn and carbon dioxide emissions compared to previous-generation competitor aircraft. As with all Airbus aircraft, the A350 can operate with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), with a target for 100% SAF capability by 2030.
