• Rolls-Royce and Turkish Technic break ground on world-leading aero engine maintenance facility
ISTANBUL, Turkey – Rolls-Royce and Turkish Technic broke ground on a new aero engine maintenance center at Istanbul Airport on January 8. The facility, expected to be operational by late 2027, will service a range of Trent engines that power Airbus aircraft.
What is new?
Rolls-Royce and the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) provider Turkish Technic have started construction on a state-of-the-art MRO facility at Istanbul Airport. The groundbreaking ceremony marks a key milestone for the partnership, which was first announced in May 2025. The new center is part of the Rolls-Royce MRO network and is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2027.
Facility Details and Capacity
The new center will provide comprehensive maintenance services for Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97, Trent XWB-84, and Trent 7000 engines. These engines power the Airbus A350 and Airbus A330neo aircraft. With a planned capacity of 200 shop visits annually, the facility is positioned to become one of the largest in the region. It will service engines for both the Turkish Airlines fleet and other Rolls-Royce TotalCare customers.
Strategic Importance
The establishment of this MRO center is intended to address the growing long-term demand for new civil large engines. For Turkish Technic, the facility will reinforce its position in the global maintenance industry. For Rolls-Royce, it expands the company’s existing MRO footprint, ensuring service capacity for its customers.
