Wiesbaden, Germany — Over three-quarters of German unionized workers receive an inflation compensation bonus averaging 2,761 euros, the Federal Statistics Office said Thursday.
The construction industry offered the lowest bonuses and the hospitality sector having the fewest employees receiving this extra payment.
The bonus is part of a government relief package to mitigate the effects of the energy crisis, contributing to a 3.7% increase in union wages in 2023 compared to the previous year.
