ATLANTA, U.S. — The Home Depot announced sales of $47.9 billion for the second quarter of fiscal 2026, an increase of 5.7% from the same period last year.
Net earnings also rose to $4.8 billion, up from $4.6 billion in the second quarter of fiscal 2025.
The Home Depot said in an emailed press release today that its second quarter results exceeded internal expectations. The company observed broad demand across its business as customers continued to engage in smaller home improvement projects.
Financial Performance
The retailer’s sales for the second quarter of fiscal 2026 grew by $2.6 billion compared to the second quarter of fiscal 2025. Diluted earnings per share reached $4.79, up from $4.58 per diluted share in the prior year’s comparable period.
Adjusted diluted earnings per share for the quarter were $4.92, compared with $4.68 in the second quarter of fiscal 2025.
Fiscal 2026 Guidance
The Home Depot reaffirmed its fiscal 2026 guidance. The company expects total sales growth between 2.5% and 4.5%. Comparable sales growth is projected to be flat to 2.0%. The guidance includes anticipated IEEPA tariff refunds, which are expected to partially offset unplanned fuel, energy, and other product input costs throughout the fiscal year.
The company also forecasts approximately 15 new store openings and a gross margin of about 33.1%. Operating margin is projected to be between 12.4% and 12.6%, with adjusted operating margin between 12.8% and 13.0%. Diluted earnings per share are expected to grow flat to 4.0% from $14.23 in fiscal 2025.
Operations
At the close of the second quarter, The Home Depot operated 2,364 retail stores and over 1,340 SRS locations. These operations span all 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, 10 Canadian provinces, and Mexico. The company employs over 470,000 associates.
