September 03 2024 16:03:06 UTC– As Holcim prepares to spin off its North American business the Swiss construction giant announces leadership changes: Jaime Hill becomes Region Head North America, Carmen Diaz appointed Chief People Officer, and Lukas Studer as Group General Counsel.
The outgoing executives are Toufic Tabbara, Feliciano González Muñoz, and Mathias Gaertner. Holcim CEO Miljan Gutovic expresses gratitude for their contributions. Holcim is a global leader in sustainable building solutions, the company says.
Strong numbers
At the end of July, Holcim released record profitable growth in the first half of 2024, achieving high recurring EBIT margins and EPS growth. They focus on sustainable building solutions, acquisitions, and reducing CO2 emissions. The company also reconfirmed plans to list its North American business and continue a share buyback program. Holcim is thus separating a large part of its business, which the Group has massively expanded in recent years with a series of company takeovers.
Holcim showcases strong financial performance across different regions, emphasizing sustainability and innovation. They expanded in the highly profitable roofing and insulating materials business with acquisitions worth billions, but also with the purchase of numerous smaller companies
Jaime Hill, previously the Country CEO of Mexico, has been appointed as Region Head North America. He takes over from Toufic Tabbara, who has decided to explore opportunities outside of Holcim. Hill’s tenure in Mexico has been marked by outstanding profitable growth, positioning the country as the second-largest contributor to Holcim’s global EBIT.
With over 30 years of experience in finance, sales, and marketing across the U.S. and Latin America, Hill is poised to lead Holcim’s North American operations with a strong focus on sustaining and enhancing the region’s growth trajectory.
Carmen Diaz, who has served as the Country CEO of Spain, will assume the role of Chief People Officer. She replaces Feliciano González Muñoz, who will assist with the transition until his retirement at the end of the year. Diaz’s leadership in Spain has been transformative, achieving record market performance and fostering a dynamic, empowered corporate culture. Her new role will involve further enhancing Holcim’s reputation as an employer of choice on a global scale, building on her extensive experience in key European markets.
Lukas Studer, currently General Counsel Corporate and M&A, will take on the role of Group General Counsel starting 1 November 2024. He succeeds Mathias Gaertner, who is set to pursue a new career opportunity. Studer has been integral to Holcim’s M&A strategy, facilitating over 100 transactions in the past five years. His expertise will continue to support the company’s ambitious growth and portfolio transformation.
Miljan Gutovic, Holcim’s CEO, expressed confidence in the new appointments.
These leadership changes underscore Holcim’s commitment to its strategic growth and the continued development of its global operations. As the company embarks on this new chapter, it aims to leverage the extensive experience and proven track records of its leaders to further solidify its position in the industry.
