July 03 2024 16:31:41 — Airbus’s Sentinel-2C climate satellite, the third in the Copernicus Sentinel-2 series, is being transported to the European spaceport in French Guiana on the sail-assisted Canopee ship.

After road transport from Airbus in Friedrichshafen to Bremen on 2 July, the Airbus-built Sentinel-2C satellite, the third Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellite, is about to be shipped to the European spaceport in French Guiana.

The satellite will provide vital Earth observation data, continuing the mission of monitoring climate change, agriculture, and natural disasters.

Sentinel-2C features advanced multispectral imaging and will replace Sentinel-2A, ensuring data continuity beyond 2035.

Airbus has been integral in constructing satellites for Copernicus missions, aiding in environmental monitoring and supporting the EU Space Programme. Sentinel-2C, along with its predecessors, will contribute to various Earth observation tasks, including monitoring land use, agriculture, and disasters.
