ANTWERP, Belgium — Ackermans & van Haaren (AvH) will invest 93 million euros in Grieg Aqua, a holding company for a Norwegian salmon aquaculture group, and reported a 24% increase in its first-half 2026 net profit. The Belgian investment firm said in an emailed press release today that its net profit reached 339.6 million euros for the period.
The company also upgraded its full-year outlook, expecting net profit to increase by more than 10%.
Investment Details
AvH has entered an agreement to invest 93 million euros in Grieg Aqua. Grieg Aqua is the holding company that owns 50.17% of Grieg Seafood ASA, a publicly listed Norwegian salmon aquaculture group.
The transaction is expected to complete in the fourth quarter of the year. Upon completion, AvH will become a long-term reference shareholder, holding a 37.5% participation in Grieg Aqua alongside the Grieg family and the Grieg Foundation.
This investment provides AvH an opportunity to invest in Norway’s salmon aquaculture ecosystem. It also represents a step in AvH’s ambition to further develop a Food & Agri platform, building on its existing investment in SIPEF.
Salmon aquaculture benefits from strong long-term industry fundamentals. These include sustained global demand, supported by a shift towards healthy diets and constrained supply. Farmed salmon accounts for about 75% of worldwide salmon consumption, with its share expected to grow.
Grieg Seafood is headquartered in Bergen, Norway. Following the sale of its operations in Finnmark and Canada in late 2025, it has established itself as a regional leader in Southwest Norway. Its Rogaland operations generated operational EBIT of NOK 433 million in 2025. Grieg Seafood had a market capitalization of NOK 3.4 billion on August 27.
AvH believes there are opportunities to strengthen and grow Grieg Seafood by building on its operational expertise, regional position, and M&A capabilities.
Financial Performance
AvH recorded a net profit of 339.6 million euros for the first half of 2026. This represents a 24% increase compared to the prior period.
The strong performance was driven by core segments and a clear improvement in Growth Capital. The company reported a net cash position of 524.4 million euros.
Outlook
Ackermans & van Haaren upgraded its outlook for the full year. The company now expects its net profit to increase by more than 10% for the full year.
