STÄFA, Switzerland — Sonova Holding AG today launched its Phonak Audéo EON receiver-in-canal (RIC) portfolio, which includes third-generation real-time AI hearing aids.
The Swiss hearing solutions provider said in an emailed press release today that the portfolio features EON Sphere, EON R, and CROS EON R models. These devices aim to improve speech clarity and reduce listening effort for users.
AI and Performance Improvements
The EON Sphere models are powered by a newly developed HYPERSONIC chip and a retrained deep neural network. This technology enables Spheric Speech Clarity 3.0, which extracts speech in real time from surrounding noise. The new chip is 37% more power-efficient than the previous Sphere generation.
Sonova said the improved efficiency allows for devices that are 25% smaller and 20% lighter. Users are twice as likely to understand every word from any direction and experience up to 37% less listening effort. The devices offer up to 38 hours of battery life.
AutoSense OS AI 8.0 automatically recognizes listening environments and activates optimal features. APD 4.0 adjusts gain for natural sound quality from the first fit.
Eric Bernard, Chief Executive Officer of Sonova, said the EON launch reinforces the company’s innovation leadership. Anders Rosengren, Chief R&D Officer, noted that AI remains a key differentiator for Sonova.
Enhanced Connectivity
The EON platform supports two active connections to virtually any device with Bluetooth technology, including smartphones and tablets. It also includes Auracast broadcast compatibility, with a QR-code scanner in the myPhonak app to simplify access to compatible public audio broadcasts.
Wind Noise Management
The portfolio introduces WindBlock 2.0, which reduces wind noise by up to 50 dB. This feature can improve the signal-to-noise ratio by up to 30 dB, supporting clearer speech and a more natural listening experience outdoors.
Market Availability
Phonak EON will be introduced and available to hearing care professionals in the United States as of August 24, 2026. Additional markets, including Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and Australia, are scheduled to follow in September.
