VIENNA, Austria — UNIQA Insurance Group AG announced higher financial results for the first half of 2026, driven by increased premiums and improved profitability across its operations.
UNIQA said in an emailed press release today that its earnings before taxes rose by 10.5% to €327 million. Net consolidated profit climbed by 11.1% to €258 million.
Financial Performance Highlights
Premiums written grew 12.0% to €4.9 billion. The net combined ratio stood at 91.6%.
The financial result doubled to €176 million. Net investment income improved 46.7% to €587 million.
Earnings per share increased from €0.76 to €0.84. Return on equity rose to 16.3%. The solvency capital requirement ratio remained at 271%.
The contractual service margin, representing expected future profits from insurance contracts, increased to €6,317 million. The technical result fell 4.9% to €360 million.
Segment Contributions
Property and casualty insurance, the largest segment, recorded premium growth of 16.2% to €3,163 million. Health insurance premiums increased 7.9% to €875 million, with profit rising to €24 million.
Life insurance premiums written were up 2.6% to €886 million. The segment’s contribution to earnings before taxes improved to €126 million.
UNIQA Re, the reinsurance company in Zurich, contributed significantly to the group’s growth.
Strategic Context and Outlook
CEO Andreas Brandstetter stated the results align with the company’s “UNIQA 3.0 – Growing Impact” strategy. Growth in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) markets remains a key driver, with UNIQA achieving 6.9% premium growth in international markets.
Business in Austria grew 4.2%, showing strong momentum in property and casualty insurance and corporate business. Diversification across markets and segments was cited as a key element of success.
UNIQA confirmed its outlook for 2026 earnings before taxes, expecting between €540 million and €570 million. This forecast is contingent on no exceptionally high adverse impacts from natural disasters or capital market turmoil.
The company remains committed to a payout ratio of 50% to 60% and a progressive dividend policy.
