Wiesbaden, Germany — According to the German Statistical Federal Office (DESTATIS), the number of requested regular insolvencies in Germany increased by a whopping 26.2% in January 2024 compared to January 2023.

Additionally, there was a 15.3% increase in corporate insolvencies in November 2023 compared to November 2022, while consumer insolvencies decreased by 1.0% in the same period.

These numbers have been consistently increasing since June 2023, although they are still slightly below pre-pandemic levels. It is important to note that the statistics only reflect insolvencies that occur as part of an insolvency procedure and not those due to other reasons or before acute payment difficulties.
