ZUG, Switzerland – Global building materials company Holcim announced on Tuesday its acquisition of two recycling firms and an agreement to purchase a third, significantly expanding its circular construction operations in the United Kingdom, Germany, and France.
Holcim, headquartered in Switzerland, confirmed on December 2 that it has completed the acquisitions of Thames Materials, a leading recycler of construction demolition materials in West London, and a majority stake in the recycling business of A&S Recycling GmbH, based in the Hanover region of Germany.
The company also signed an agreement to acquire a recycling business in Northwest France.

The three acquisitions are intended to accelerate Holcim’s circular construction strategy, which focuses on reusing demolition materials. Together, the companies will add a combined annual processing capacity of approximately 1.3 million tons.
This expansion supports Holcim’s corporate goal of recycling over 20 million tons of construction demolition materials per year by 2030.
The move extends Holcim’s footprint across major European metropolitan areas. The purchase of Thames Materials provides the company with recycling service capabilities across the entire Greater London area.
The German deal brings Holcim’s number of recycling hubs in the country to 10, while the pending French acquisition will increase its centers there to 28.
