TOULOUSE, France – Airbus announced on Monday, December 1, that it is finalizing urgent precautionary modifications across its global A320 Family fleet, with fewer than 100 aircraft remaining to be serviced.
The action follows a safety alert issued by the manufacturer late last week that potentially impacted approximately 6,000 airplanes worldwide.
The mandatory measures were prompted by an Alert Operators Transmission (AOT) sent to airlines on November 28, 2025, calling for immediate precautionary action. In its update, Airbus confirmed the “vast majority” of affected aircraft have now received the necessary modifications.
The company is working with its airline customers to complete the work on the remaining planes and return them to service.
While the specific nature of the safety concern was not detailed, Airbus stated the decision was made to “put safety above all other considerations.” The fleet-wide directive has caused flight delays and operational challenges for airlines and passengers globally. Airbus apologized for the disruption and thanked its customers and authorities for their cooperation in swiftly implementing the safety measures
