MUNICH, Germany (AIAN) – The Theresienwiese, home to Munich’s world-famous Oktoberfest, was temporarily closed on Wednesday, October 1, following a bomb threat. Organizers announced the closure would last until at least 5:00 p.m. as a precautionary measure.

The threat was officially connected to an ongoing emergency operation in the city’s northern Lerchenau district. Munich Police and fire departments responded to a fire at a residential building in the area, where sounds of an explosion were also reported.

Authorities confirmed that one injured person was found at the scene in Lerchenau, and an investigation is underway to determine their connection to the fire. The incident caused significant traffic disruptions, with police urging the public to avoid the area. Officials are directing citizens to the official social media channels of the City of Munich, the police, and the fire department for current information.
