LONDON, United Kingdom — Marks & Spencer (M&S) today opened an expanded airside Food store at Heathrow Terminal 5, nearly doubling its size. The move follows strong customer demand for fresh food options at the airport.
The British multinational retailer said in an emailed press release today that the larger store is part of its strategy to grow M&S Food in new destinations. It aims to meet the needs of passengers seeking quality food and British treats before flying.
Store Expansion Details
The new store is almost double the size of the pilot store, which opened in summer 2025. It brings more of the M&S Food range airside, including an in-store bakery and Picky Bits for the first time. The store offers fresh Food on the Move, salads, sandwiches, sushi, and drinks.
Strategic Growth and Customer Focus
M&S Food’s wider convenience growth strategy focuses on opening in high-footfall locations. Heathrow welcomed a record 40 million passengers in the first half of 2026. Customer insight indicates 45% of passengers struggle to find healthy food in airports. The expanded store offers options like the Nutrient Dense Berry Bliss Bowl and High Protein Smoky Bean & Egg Pot.
The store also features best-loved gifting ranges, including Percy Pig, Colin the Caterpillar, biscuit tins, and British souvenirs.
