- Daimler Truck Taps Innoviz for LiDAR in Level 4 Autonomous Semi-Trucks
PORTLAND, Ore. – Daimler Truck, along with its autonomous technology subsidiary Torc Robotics, announced Tuesday it has selected Innoviz Technologies as its supplier for short-range LiDAR sensors.
The partnership is for the series production of SAE Level 4 autonomous Class 8 semi-trucks.
The announcement, made on December 2, 2025, confirms that Israeli-based Innoviz will supply its InnovizTwo LiDAR sensors for the autonomous Freightliner Cascadia program.

These sensors will be integrated with Torc’s self-driving software and a broader suite of sensors, including long-range LiDAR, radar, and cameras.
The companies are engaging in a joint development effort to advance the sensors specifically for commercial trucking applications.
This collaboration is a critical component of Daimler Truck’s strategy to commercialize highly autonomous trucks for use on highway and regional routes across North America.
The goal of integrating Level 4 autonomy is to create a vehicle that can operate without human intervention under specific conditions, aiming to enhance road safety and improve operational efficiency for freight-hauling fleet operators.
The multi-sensor approach is designed to provide the redundancy and precision necessary for safe navigation in diverse road and weather conditions.
